Student job - Laboratory Technician (hourly paid) at the Department of Biology, Section for Cell- and Neurobiology

The Section for Cell- and Neurobiology, Department of Biology at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a student to be employed as laboratory technician (hourly paid) with effect from 15 August 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About us

The Department of Biology is the largest institute at the Faculty of Science. At present the staff includes more than 400 employees - almost distributed equally between researchers and technical/administrative posititions. The study programme attracts more than 1800 students.

At the Department of Biology research and teaching is carried out within a wide range of biological areas.


Your task will include

  • Cleaning laboratory glass
  • Autoclaving GMO material
  • Cleaning laboratory towels using a washing machine
  • Assistance with writing scientific articles and grant applications
  • Handling liquid nitrogen for freezing cells (this needs a little bit of physical strength)
We expect

  • Good computer skills including typing skills (10-finger system, typing speed: at least 30 words per minute)
  • Experience with abovementioned tasks
  • You are conscientious and flexible
  • You have a good sense of order
  • You are a student of biology or a studying a related subject

Terms of salary and employment

The employment is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Organisations of Public Employees governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and IT-officers in the state. The hourly wage is DKK 124.35.

It is a requirement that you are enrolled as a student at an institution of further education.

The job is very flexible and can be well carried out in parallel with your studies at the University. The working load is variable and about 4-6 hours per week.
