Assistant Professor in Corporate Communication

At the Department of Culture and Global Studies, the Faculty of the Humanities, a position as Assistant Professor in Corporate Communication is open for appointment from January 1, 2018 or as soon as possible after this date. The position is available for a period of 3 years.


Job description


The primary obligations of the Assistant Professor will be research and teaching within the Bachelors and Masters programmes in International Business Communication, English, and the Masters programme in Culture, Communication and Globalization with a focus on corporate communication. In this capacity, applicants must be well versed within research and teaching in one or more of the following domains:


  • Corporate communication

  • Language policies in organizations

  • Corporate language management and strategies


Furthermore, documented experience with problem-based learning (PBL) will be considered an advantage, as this is Aalborg Universitys pedagogical model, just as applicants who are qualified to teach within other areas of the Bachelors and Masters programmes of the Department should state this in their application. Applicants whose mother tongue is Danish or who are fluent in Danish to the extent that they can teach Danish-English comparative courses will be preferred.


The Assistant Professor will be required to participate as a full member of the research group Culture and Communication in Professional Contexts and/or the research group Crossing Organisational Boundaries, where he/she will engage in the continuous development of the field of research together with the other group members.


In terms of personal qualities, the applicant is expected to have strong interpersonal skills, and to be able to establish and maintain good relations with researchers and students in an environment characterised by cultural diversity.


Daily attendance at the Department is required. In addition, the new employee must be prepared to participate actively in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Department, school and research group. Assistant professorship

A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. The appointment includes a requirement to attend a course in university pedagogy for assistant professors organised by the University.


The employment as assistant professor must not exceed a total period of four years at the same institution (a maximum of six years at assistant professor level at AAU and a maximum of eight years at assistant professor level in Denmark).


Applicants for the assistant professorship are required to possess academic qualifications; for example a PhD degree or similar academic qualifications.

  • A complete publication list and markings of the attached publications to be taken into consideration in connection with the assessment. No more than five publications may be attached.

  • In case you attach joint, a co-author statement must be enclosed specifying your contribution to the joint work. The co-author statement must be signed by at least one of the co-authors. Template co-author declaration

  • Documentation of your teaching qualifications (Guide)

  • Copies of your degree certificates (including Masters and PhD certificates)


Applicants will be assessed by an expert assessment committee. Applicants may be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.

When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
